Ancient Greeks
Let us start our explanation with the ancient Greeks. Back then, guardian angels weren't called that. They used the term daimon or demon.
When you hear that word today, your mind probably travels to less than benevolent creatures. Back then, it simply referred to a spiritual power. The word Theos described the personality of the gods, while demon was used to describe their actions. See, nothing sinister at all.
Roman Culture
In ancient Roman culture, the guardian angel was referred to as a Genius. No, that doesn't mean intelligence in this case. It's spiritual beings.
It's said that these creatures followed a person throughout the various stages of their lives. They believed these beings could even attach themselves to and protect places.
Guardian Angels in Other Religions
Again, guardian angels exist in pretty much any culture and religion to some degree. Judaism has the archangels Gabriel and Michael. In fact, they think of Michael as the main protector of Israel.
Islam recognizes several archangels. Buddhists have beings known as Dharma protectors. They watch over individuals and guide them through their life.
Native American culture speaks of a guardian spirit that acts not only as a protector but an instructor as well.
What Do They Look Like?
Many people talk about seeing a being when they have a near-death experience. If it happens to you, you're likely to see a human-shaped figure.
In the bible, it states that they have the same appearance as men. Their exact appearance may vary depending on what kind of angel they are.
Types of Angels
There are three different categories of angels that you should familiarize yourself with. These are the Angels of the earth, soul, and sky.
Angels of the Earth
Angels of the earth watch over your physical needs. They're the ones you ask for help before you hop in your car or when you're trying to get into the college of your dreams.
They tend to pop in and out of your life. When you need them, they are there for you, but they don't stick around. It's said that these beings can appear in the form of animals.
Angels of the Soul
If you're having a hard time forgiving yourself for things that you've done in the past, your soul angel will be there to help. They speak to the inner you and can help you understand the importance of self-love.
These angels are non-judgmental and will offer nothing but their support when you're at your most vulnerable. In many cultures, your middle name is also the name of your soul angel.
Angels of the Sky
Your sky angel is basically your connection to whatever spiritual realm that you believe in. It's not uncommon for these to appear to you in the form of one of the archangels.
Those who claim to have clairvoyant abilities work with their soul angel to gaze into the future. They provide wisdom when you need it the most to lead you toward life abundance.
Are Guardian Angels and Spiritual Guides the Same Thing?
Many people use the terms guardian angel and spiritual guide interchangeably. They are not the same thing, however. Spiritual guides were once as human as you are.
Your guardian angel was never a human. They work on a higher plane than spiritual guides can ever reach.
How Does Yours Work with You?
It's important to note that Angels can only protect you to a point. If you run into a near-death situation, but it's not your time to head into the next life, your guardian angel can interfere.
Before you can ask them directly for help, however, you'll need to connect to them in some way. There are a variety of ways that you can do that.
Connecting with Your Guardian Angel
The easiest way to connect to your guardian is through prayer. Sometimes they'll answer you. There are times when your angel may come to you first.
They'll seek you out through your dreams. They may push repetitive thoughts. For example, let's say that you're down on your luck and you keep getting this nagging feeling that you should call up an old family member to reconnect.
During your conversation, they mention that they need a partner for this company that they just started up. They ask you if you would like to be that partner.
Don't be Afraid to Ask Them for Help
Above all else, it's important to not be afraid to ask your guardian angel for help. At the end of the day, they want to be there for you. Many people are hesitant to call upon them if they already have everything that they need.
Why should you ask them for something trivial when there are a million other people who may need them? These are heavenly beings that can exist in many places at once. Trust us when we say that they can make time for you.
